President's Corner for January 2012
The New Year is here. Are you as stunned as I am how fast 2011 flew by? This past year the Board of Directors busied themselves with club solutions to a few problems we encountered along the way. Discussions were many and problems solved. I appreciate all the hard work and time the Board put in for this club. We couldn't have moved forward and put this club on a solid footing without each and every one of you. The 2012 Board of Directors will continue to work hard for every member of this club.
January and February hopefully will bring old and new members into our group. Club membership fees will be the same as the past years:
$50.00 per couple or $30.00 per single adult or $10.00 juniors ages 12 and up
The club will need to decide as soon as possible if we are going to sponsor a rock and gem show this year. Hopefully we will come to a decision as a whole at the January general meeting. We will need a responsible committee show chairman to step up. You will have the entire Board backing you throughout the process. All major "how to's" have been written down to help you through the steps of producing a wonderful show. Yes, it's a lot of work, but very fulfilling to you and this club.
Another project the club needs to tackle soon is busting up the petrified wood for our World Rock Tumbling Championships 2012. We have approximately 300 pounds to sledge. Georgette again has kindly offered her barn for this project. All the members that use the rock shop appreciate and give thanks to you, Georgette, for offering your barn to the club. So much fun and great creativity come out of the rock shop. I am constantly amazed at the quality of cabochons people are making. I only wish that more members would come up and play. I guarantee all will have fun!
Lets hope that this year brings us many interesting field trips, several interesting speakers, and hopefully lots of barbeques/potlucks at the rock shop. We need all of you to participate in the growth and happiness of the club.
