Meeting of 11/18/2008
- Steve Hart opened the meeting at 6:3pm with the Pledge of Allegiance and a welcome to the members; there were 45 members present.
- Announcements: Steve announced that the shop would be open soon to those members who have taken training. The club voted to limit the use of the lapidary machines to club members who have received training only. Once some of the members have been trained, they in turn, can train others. Training will involve learning to make a cabochon from beginning to end. Once members are trained, they can use the equipment when the shop is open. Shop dates will be posted on the website. We will be working with the Parks Department teaching twelve classes available to the public next year. Internally, there are classes for club members as well. The club will also take orders for cutting slabs for members for a small fee to replace blades.
- Two board positions were filled. 1) Dawn Cozine was voted in as Federation Chair and will represent our club at two annual federation meetings. 2) Connie Rosetto was voted in as Show Chair after John Hees resigned. Also noted, Ron Minor accepted the position of Program Chair. (Anyone wanting to teach a program at club meetings should get in touch with Ron. He will be available on the website orovillerocks.com) and Gerry Hill will serve a Field Trip leader.
Treasurers Report: Gerry said the club has collected $4408 since June and has spend $4188. Currently the club owes $172 in member reimbursements.
Shop Report: Watch the website for shop hours to be posted.
Membership Report: Sue Hees discussed Charter membership (only available until the end of December 2008). The next meeting will be a potluck.
