Meeting of 10/21/2008
- Steve Hart opened the meeting at 6:35pm with the Pledge of Allegiance and a welcome to the eight visitors from the October 12th rock show. There were about 48 members present.
- Steve thanked the Feather River Parks and Recreation Department (FRP&R) for their generosity in hosting our club’s first public event. A motion was made and carried to donate $250 to FRP&R.
- Steve Hart nominated Dawn Cozine to fill the board position of Federation Director to be voted by the club at the next meeting. He also placed Ron Minor’s name before the club to be voted in as Program Chair.
- The minutes of the previous meeting were reviewed and approved.
Shop Report: Manuel reported that regular shop hours will be coming soon.
Show Report: John Hees reported a successful event and thanked everyone for jumping in to do what was needed. Jerry Hill thanked John for doing an amazing job. Connie reported that interest was high at the Anderson club show held a week after ours, and that many vendors would like to be included in next year’s event. Tom Stephens reported that as a vendor, he had a very good day and thanked all those who helped him.
Fundraising Report: David Cossey announced that more donations are needed for the November 1st swap meet. He asked anyone with donations to call him at 532-9148 and he will come by and pick up the donated items.
Membership Report: Sue Hees announced that membership was up to 73 members. The fees of $30/Single; $50/Couple and $10/Junior would be due again in January 09. The fees are applied to equipment, classes, field trips, equipment updates and supplies. She announced that guests would be welcome to attend the field trips and meetings from now until the end of 2008.
Field Trip Report: Ben Halpin announced the next field trip would be a fee-based trip this coming Saturday, for jasper near Stoneyford. Members to meet at the shop at 7:30am.
Demonstration: Gerry Hill treated the club members to a display and lecture on Rhyolite (aka Wonderstone).
The meeting adjourned just prior to the demonstration at 7:15pm. The next meeting will be 11/18/08 at 6:30pm.
